The Royal Mansion of Abedés ruled the Kingdom of Haiwaléya for 900 years, between 1487 and the Revolution of 2387 (Kijreki Years). The House was named after Abedés I, the first king to hold power over all provinces of modern Haiwaléya. The institution of a national monarchy stemmed from the 1443 Raid on Old Ndwathelu, when a Haiwa alliance sacked and burned its captital, Alendi. The wealth seized in this raid was used to fund considerable development in what would become the Kingdom of Haiwaléya.
The House of Abedés claimed the blessing of the Moon Goddess, Shafizhal. This propaganda promoted the belief that the Haiwa writing sytem was revealed to Abedés I by Shafizhal Herself, along with a set of esoteric teachings.
